5 YA Books You Must Definitely Read! #Day18

Since the motive of this article has already been made clear by the title, let me get straight to the point! Now, why did I pick the genre Young Adult out of all the other hundreds of genres in this world? Well the answer is simple -- I just love reading coming-of-age/young adult books, the reason behind which is that not only these books resonate with my everyday experience and emotions (although in way too exaggerated and extraordinary situations at times) , these books make a great deal of an impact on the way I think, feel and look at situations.

So, here come 5 books which I totally recommend you all to read

(1) The Diary of A Young Girl :
I believe that any list of must-read books can never be complete if it does not include this book. I can also be sure that you must have heard of this book at least once in your life. It is just overwhelming to know that there is much more depth and emotion in it than one can imagine before reading the diary of a 14 year old girl. What makes it even more special is the fact that it highlights the finer and complex sides of Anne and her friends, acquaintances and family members. After reading this stellar book, you cannot not feel anything. Whether it is sympathy for the girl who tried her best to normalize the not-so-normal situation by venting her feelings out on her diary, or anger for the atrocities against the Jews, the story of Anne Frank is surely going to leave an impact.

(2) The Selection Trilogy
While the cover page might make these books seem like some princess fantasy books -- mind you, they are quite far away from them if I tell you. The book has been set in the futuristic world wherein the once United States has been transformed into the Kingdom of Illea, ruled by a monarchy. What follows is even more fascinating yet depressing - the masses have been divided into 8 castes, the Eights being the "lowest of the low" and the Ones being the members of the royal family. Amidst all this chaos comes the Selection - to choose the next princess of Illea and wife of Prince Maxon Schreave, which all eligible girls of the nation are excited about except America Singer, a five. A major turn of events makes these two people meet and what comes after is for you to read. A treat for all YA lovers but with some thriller for others to enjoy, now what else do you want? ;P

(3) Everything Everything
Although I am not very fond of books which start on a very bad note, this book speaks to me in a way many less do. It tells us what freedom could mean to us. The emotional connect and the imagery this book creates in your mind is phenomenal. Maddy is a 17-year-old girl with SCID, and she NEVER steps out of her house, because if she would, she might die. However living her life with this grave truth takes a big change when she meets Olly, a guy who recently moved next door. This one is surely going to pull some heartstrings if not anything.

(4) To All The Boys I've Loved Before Trilogy
You might have been living under a rock if you have not heard of the movie adaptation (of the first 2 books) or the books themselves. While I believe a majority of you might have only watched the movie, the books definitely deserve a read. For a bibliophile like me, I would obviously give the books the upper hand. Nevertheless, these books will leave the non readers engrossed too. For those of you who don't know, the story revolves around Lara Jean, a normal high school girl who has crushes on guys, but only: she writes letter to those guys (and doesn't send it to them obviously) until they do get sent out somehow! Definitely a classic and sweet must-read book!

(5) Fangirl : Although the book wouldn't give you an extraordinary plot, it certainly gives a lot of emotional insight into a teenager's mind. The story's protagonist is Cath, a major fangirl of the book Simon Snow - liking the book to the extent that she writes fanfiction on them. For the world, she is an introvert and almost non existent , but on the internet she is a famous fan fiction writer! She also has a twin sister Wreth who is like a world apart from her -- extrovert and always ready to experience new things. Cath's life takes a turn when she goes to college and meets Levi, her roommate's boyfriend and she begins to understand herself more.

I am not sure if I can recommend you the best books ever, but I can say that these are surely going to make an impact, regardless of whether you are a reader or not!

Happy Reading!
