How Writing Has Benefited Me #Day10

All through these years, I have always tried to be involved in some co-curricular activities along with my academics in order to find my potential in those things. Till I was around six or seven, (although it may surprise a lot of my friends) I really liked dancing, even though I wasn't much of a dancer. Following this came my passion for music, singing and then playing the

All through these years, I have always tried to be involved in some co-curricular activities along with my academics in order to try and find my potential in different areas. Some of these activities had something to do with music, art, sports and so on, But what has made writing stand out for me amongst these things is that it makes me express myself in the best possible way I can.

Firstly, it has helped me to have clarity of thoughts. Every now and then we come up with issues which may be of national or international importance or even may be in regards of one's personal life. But with the busy schedule I usually have, and so do all of us, sometimes we just do not stop and think about these issues, what we feel about them and what our opinions are. But ever since I have started writing, for instance, say I am writing an article on any specific theme; I feel compelled to question myself on where my stand lies on that particular topic and that I think benefits me hugely. In a world where everyone just resorts to giving diplomatic opinions in public, I feel that at least I have a clarity of thought inside my own head.

Secondly, I do not require validation when I write, regardless of whether I put out my writing in public or not. Like any other teenager, I have always felt the need to know if what I was doing was "appropriate" or "good enough", whether it was sketching or singing, playing a sport or even while having a conversation. But when I write, I feel liberated of all such thoughts bothering me for I know that what I am writing is expressing something I truly feel and that cannot and should not be influenced by any external opinions.

Thirdly, it gives me peace. Trust me when I say this -- I would not have believed anyone had they told me this before I started writing. But now that I have been writing for quite some time, I can totally claim this to be true. As weightless and unrealistic as this point seems, it is surprising to experience how all of your mental stress and anxiety can flutter away while you are writing away your thoughts and feelings about what has been going on in your mind.

I do not say that writing is the only thing that can be helpful for you in these ways. In fact, it may not even work for you at all. What I can tell you for sure is that we all have a thing which can do this to us and writing has been that thing for me. All you need to do is find yours and sooner than later, you will be benefiting from it too!
